LG ShineThis weekend I had the chance to try a friend’s LG Shine cell phone. Its a beautifull piece of design.

It was obvious which Microsoft technologies and patents LG used in this product:

  • Microsoft fonts as Verdana or Tahoma
  • Possibly their font rendering technologies including TrueType bytecode interpreter
  • Is a wheel to browse menus (as on the mouse) a Microsoft patent ?

I think the wheel thing is actually a Sony patent.

Yes, the Sony P800 and alike have a very good wheel, long before it was used in other phones.
